Which is better for undergraduate research: Texas A&M or MIT?

I’m a high school senior interested in studying engineering and getting involved in research as an undergraduate. I’m comparing Texas A&M and MIT and want to understand which school generally gives undergraduates stronger access to meaningful research opportunities.

A motivated student who contacts professors early, builds technical skills, and applies to departmental programs can earn meaningful lab experience there, including work that leads to presentations, publications, or graduate-school preparation.

For undergraduate research access alone, MIT has the clearer edge because research opportunities are more systematically embedded in the undergraduate experience. Texas AM can provide excellent outcomes, especially for a student whose interests align with a particular lab or engineering specialty, but it typically demands more self-direction to navigate its scale.
