Is Emory or UGA harder to get into for a Georgia student?

The biggest practical difference is that UGA gives Georgia residents a meaningful home-state advantage, while Emory is a private university and does not reserve admission preference for Georgia applicants. That advantage makes UGA more attainable than it would be for an out-of-state student, but it does not make UGA easy: its in-state applicant pool is very strong and admission has become highly competitive. Still, UGA should be treated as a reach or at least a high target for many strong in-state applicants, rather than as a fallback simply because of residency.
