Which offers better undergraduate engineering research opportunities: UF or Virginia Tech?

I’m a high school senior choosing between the University of Florida and Virginia Tech for engineering. I’m especially interested in getting involved in faculty-led research as an undergraduate, so I want to understand how the research experience and access to opportunities compare at the two schools.

For most engineering students specifically prioritizing faculty-led undergraduate research access, Virginia Tech has a slight edge because its engineering-centered, collaborative environment can make entry into active labs feel more accessible. UF may be the stronger choice for someone seeking the widest menu of interdisciplinary research options, particularly at the intersection of engineering with health, life sciences, agriculture, or large university research centers.
