How does campus culture compare between Auburn University and Virginia Tech?

Auburn tends to fit students who want a highly visible, tradition-heavy Southern campus culture centered on SEC athletics, weekend social life, and an especially strong sense of campus-wide pride. Virginia Tech tends to appeal to students who want equally intense school spirit but a somewhat more practical, collaborative, and outdoors-oriented community in a classic college-town setting. Both schools are large, friendly, and known for students who identify strongly with their university.

At Auburn, the social atmosphere is often described as outgoing and relationship-driven.
