At Georgetown, students tend to benefit from a highly selective peer environment, extensive alumni connections in public service, and a traditional residential campus in Georgetown. Its Government major is a natural route toward campaigns, law, public policy, and government work, and the School of Foreign Service offers particularly strong options for students drawn to international affairs. Internships are common, though the Hilltop location can make a carefully managed schedule more important.

GW’s Foggy Bottom campus is embedded in central DC, which can make internships during the academic year especially convenient. Its political science program, policy-oriented student organizations, and proximity to institutions such as the State Department and the White House create a distinctly professional, city-based college experience. Students who are proactive can build an impressive résumé quickly, but GW’s network may carry somewhat less immediate prestige in highly competitive political circles.

For a student choosing primarily on long-term political career leverage, Georgetown is the stronger choice, particularly if the financial difference is manageable. GW can be the smarter decision when it is substantially more affordable or when you want an urban routine built around frequent semester internships from the start.
