Its Gillings School of Global Public Health offers undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Public Health pathways in areas such as biostatistics, environmental health sciences, health policy and management, and nutrition. That gives students earlier access to public-health-specific coursework, faculty, and a professional-school environment.

UNC is especially compelling for someone interested in applied population health work: analyzing health data, shaping health policy, addressing environmental exposures, or working with community health programs. The BSPH curriculum can make it easier to graduate with concrete methodological preparation and a clear public health credential before pursuing an MPH, medical school, research, government, or nonprofit work.
