How do Johns Hopkins and UVA compare for college athletics?

For a traditional big-time college sports atmosphere, UVA is the clear choice. Its Division I teams compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and football, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, baseball, and lacrosse draw substantial campus attention. Game days in Charlottesville are a visible part of student life, with large crowds, school traditions, and an active fan culture.

Johns Hopkins has a much smaller-scale athletic environment overall. Most Blue Jays teams compete in Division III through the Centennial Conference, so varsity sports are less commercial and less central to the social calendar.
