How does student life compare at Michigan State and Auburn?

The biggest practical tradeoff is that Auburn feels more concentrated around a close-knit, tradition-heavy SEC campus in a small college town, while Michigan State offers a larger, more varied Big Ten environment in East Lansing with more distinct social circles and activities. Auburn’s social calendar is strongly shaped by football weekends, Greek life, campus traditions, and the downtown area along College Street. At Michigan State, students can find that same major-school energy, but the size of the university creates a broader mix of organizations, identities, academic communities, and weekend options.

Auburn tends to feel especially unified on game days and around long-standing traditions such as the Toomer’s Corner celebration.
