Which is better for a business career: Michigan State or Lehigh?
I’m a high school senior deciding between Michigan State and Lehigh, and I’m interested in building a career in business after college. I want to understand which school generally provides stronger preparation and opportunities for business careers.

For the broadest and most established business-career platform, Michigan State is the stronger choice, especially for supply chain, operations, marketing, accounting, and large-company recruiting. Its Eli Broad College of Business has a deep alumni base across major employers and a particularly prominent supply chain program. MSU’s scale also creates many business-related student organizations, recruiting events, and chances to explore different fields before committing to one.
Michigan State’s biggest practical advantage is employer access at volume. Broad students can pursue internships and full-time roles with national companies, and the school’s connections in Michigan, Chicago, and other major markets are useful for students targeting corporate business careers.
Lehigh offers a different, more intimate experience that can be attractive for students focused on finance, entrepreneurship, or a smaller private-school environment. Its College of Business is smaller, and its location in Pennsylvania provides reasonable access to Philadelphia and New York City opportunities. Lehigh students may find it easier to build close relationships with professors and classmates, but they will need to be more proactive about using those relationships and pursuing internships beyond campus.
Cost should meaningfully affect this decision. If Lehigh’s financial aid makes its price close to Michigan State’s, the smaller setting and Northeast access may justify choosing it for a student with a clear finance or entrepreneurial interest. But for a student seeking the widest range of business pathways and a particularly strong launchpad into operations-oriented corporate roles, Michigan State has the clearer edge.
