Arizona State has exceptionally broad involvement options, from clubs and cultural organizations to entrepreneurship, arts, recreation, and professional interests. The Tempe area also gives students access to restaurants, concerts, outdoor activities, internships, and the broader Phoenix area. The scale can be exciting, but it may initially feel less intimate, especially for students who commute, live farther from campus, or do not actively join a group. Arizona’s hot climate also shapes daily life, with much social activity moving indoors or happening later in the day during warmer months.

For the priorities you listed, Florida State is the better pick if you want student life to feel immediately cohesive and centered on a classic residential campus experience. Choose Arizona State instead if you value variety, a diverse large-campus scene, and access to a major metropolitan area enough to take more initiative in building your community.
