Its London, Ontario campus is relatively self-contained, and residence culture, Orientation Week, Homecoming, purple-and-white Mustangs gear, and varsity events create a strong shared identity. Student participation often centers on campus-wide traditions and a socially active undergraduate scene.

McGill has plenty of pride and active student communities, but its spirit feels less uniform and more shaped by Montreal’s urban setting. Students often build community through residences, faculties, clubs, student societies, and city life rather than around one dominant campus culture. McGill’s Frosh programming, faculty traditions, Redbirds athletics, and major student events can be lively, but the student body is especially international and dispersed across many interests, so school spirit is often more decentralized.

Someone who prefers a broad, cosmopolitan community where campus involvement is one part of living in Montreal may connect more naturally with McGill.
