Which campus is larger, the University of Maryland or Arizona State University?

The University of Maryland’s College Park campus is physically larger than Arizona State University’s Tempe campus. In land area, College Park is therefore about twice the size of Tempe.

Maryland has a broad, park-like central campus with substantial academic, residential, athletic, and research space extending outward from McKeldin Mall. Students often travel longer distances between some buildings, residence halls, and facilities, although the campus is still walkable and served by shuttles.

ASU Tempe is more compact and urban in feel, with many major academic buildings, student spaces, and residence halls concentrated closer together. It sits next to downtown Tempe and is integrated with the Phoenix-area light-rail system, so its footprint can feel connected to the surrounding city rather than self-contained.
