Which has a stronger football culture: UIUC or Ohio State?

Ohio State has the markedly stronger and more visible football culture. Football is a central part of campus identity in Columbus, with home-game Saturdays shaping student social life, alumni activity, traditions, and the broader city’s attention. The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry, in particular, gives the season an intensity that extends well beyond the stadium.

At Ohio State, many students build their fall weekends around tailgates, pregame gatherings, watch parties for road games, and conversations about the team throughout the week. Illinois has a real football presence, especially when the team is having a successful season, and Memorial Stadium game days can be enjoyable.
