Is Notre Dame worth the extra cost over the University of Georgia?

UGA is an excellent choice for a student who wants the resources of a major research university, a vibrant Athens campus, broad academic options, and strong value, particularly at in-state cost. Programs such as the Terry College of Business, journalism, public affairs, science, and pre-professional tracks can lead to excellent outcomes. UGA also has deep employer and alumni ties throughout Georgia and the Southeast, which can be especially useful for students planning to build a career there.

Paying more may be reasonable if the added cost is manageable without burdensome loans and Notre Dame genuinely matches your academic and social priorities. If attending Notre Dame would require substantial parent borrowing or leave you with significant debt, UGA’s lower cost is likely the wiser decision, especially for students considering graduate school, medicine, law, or other expensive post-college training.
