Which is better for direct-admit engineering: UIUC or Ohio State?

The biggest practical difference is that Illinois offers a denser, more nationally recognized engineering ecosystem, while Ohio State can provide a very strong large-university engineering experience with especially useful access to Columbus-area employers and, often, a lower total cost. At Illinois, the Grainger College of Engineering has exceptional depth across fields such as computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and materials science, plus extensive undergraduate research and technical student organizations.
