For pre-law preparation alone, William & Mary may provide the more balanced route if it allows you to graduate with less debt, earn stronger grades, and build deeper faculty relationships. Choose Columbia instead if you are genuinely excited by its Core, New York City access, and faster-moving environment, and can manage the financial difference comfortably; its opportunities are exceptional, but they only help if you have the time and academic footing to use them well.
