Which is better for business, Indiana University or George Washington University?

Indiana University is the stronger pick for business. Its Kelley School of Business has a much more established national identity as an undergraduate business school, a broader range of business-specific majors and recruiting pipelines, and a larger alumni presence in corporate roles across finance, consulting, marketing, and accounting.

One big difference is the business school itself. Kelley is the centerpiece of IU for many students, with direct resources built around undergraduates pursuing business from the start. That usually means more specialized coursework, more student organizations tied to specific business fields, and a deeper on-campus recruiting culture focused on business employers. At George Washington, business is solid, but the School of Business is not quite as dominant or as nationally recognized in the undergraduate business conversation.

Career access is another key separator. Kelley has a long track record of placing students into major firms, especially in the Midwest but also well beyond it, and employers know the brand. Indiana’s alumni network in business is especially valuable because it is both large and very engaged. GW does offer a real advantage for students interested in business connected to government, policy, international affairs, or organizations based in Washington, DC, but that is more niche than Kelley’s broader corporate reach.

Cost and campus experience also matter here. IU tends to offer the more traditional business school environment, with a large student community centered around campus life and business recruiting. GW’s urban DC setting can be attractive for internships during the school year, but for a student asking simply which school has the stronger overall business program and reputation, Indiana has the clearer edge.
