Is Indiana University or Lehigh University better for business majors?
I’m trying to decide between Indiana and Lehigh for business and keep seeing both names come up. I know they have different strengths, but I’m having a hard time figuring out which one is generally better for a student who wants a solid business education and good career opportunities.
I’m mostly looking at overall reputation for business, not one specific concentration.

For business specifically, Indiana University usually has the stronger overall name recognition because of the Kelley School of Business. Kelley is one of the most established undergraduate business programs in the country, has a very large alumni network, and sends a lot of students into finance, consulting, marketing, accounting, and corporate roles. If your priority is a broad business reputation and lots of recruiting pathways, Indiana has a real edge.
Indiana tends to fit the student who wants a classic big business school environment. Kelley offers a huge range of majors, clubs, workshops, case competitions, and employer connections, and that scale can be a major advantage if you want options and a deep alumni base in many cities. It is especially appealing for someone who wants a more traditional undergraduate business experience with many peers headed into similar fields.
Lehigh makes more sense for a student who wants a smaller university setting and a more intimate academic experience. Its College of Business is well respected, and Lehigh can be especially attractive if you value smaller classes, closer faculty access, and a campus culture that feels less massive than Indiana. Some students thrive more in that environment, especially if they want business within a school that also has a strong engineering and interdisciplinary feel.
Career-wise, both can lead to strong outcomes, but they do so a bit differently. Indiana benefits from scale, brand strength in undergraduate business, and a very far-reaching alumni network. Lehigh often appeals to students who want somewhat more individualized access and are comfortable building opportunities in a smaller but still reputable program.
So if the question is overall reputation for business alone, Indiana has the clearer advantage. If the question is where a particular student might flourish more, Lehigh can still be the smarter choice for someone who prefers a smaller, more personal setting over the large, highly structured Kelley ecosystem.
