So for a simple overall comparison, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is typically harder to get into than Rutgers. The gap becomes even more noticeable if you are looking at UIUC majors with limited seats, where admission can be significantly more competitive than general admission at Rutgers.

If you mean Rutgers New Brunswick, that is the fairest comparison, and UIUC still tends to come out as the more selective of the two overall. Major matters at both schools, but especially at UIUC.
