Alabama vs Indiana for business: which is the better college choice overall?
I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both Alabama and Indiana are on it for business. I’m mostly looking at the overall undergrad business experience, like academics, recruiting, internships, and campus fit.
I’m not asking about current stats or anything year specific, just which school tends to be the stronger choice for a business major.

Indiana is the stronger overall choice for business. Its undergraduate business ecosystem is more established through the Kelley School of Business, and that shows up most clearly in the breadth of recruiting, the depth of career programming, and the national recognition of the business program itself. For a student prioritizing business opportunities first, Indiana usually gives you a more robust platform.
The biggest differentiator is the business school. Kelley has a long-standing reputation specifically for undergraduate business education, with well-developed majors, workshops, career preparation, and employer pipelines across areas like finance, marketing, consulting, operations, and accounting. Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business is solid and can be a very good option, but Indiana’s business program tends to carry more weight nationally and is more often treated as a destination school for undergrads who know they want business.
Recruiting is another important separation point. Indiana tends to attract a wider range of employers and offers especially strong access to internship and full-time recruiting through Kelley’s structure, student organizations, and alumni network. That matters because business outcomes are often shaped not just by classes, but by how easy it is to plug into interviews, networking, and pre-professional communities early.
Campus fit is where Alabama can be more appealing for some students, especially if you want a large SEC environment, a more traditional Southern campus culture, and in many cases a potentially more affordable path depending on scholarships.
