Miami vs Boston College for finance: which is better for recruiting and internships?
I'm trying to decide between these two schools and finance is the main thing I care about. I want a place that will give me good recruiting opportunities, internship access, and a strong path into banking or related finance jobs.
Both seem solid overall, but I can't tell which one has the stronger advantage specifically for finance.

Boston College has the clearer edge for finance recruiting and internships. Its Carroll School is much more plugged into East Coast finance hiring, especially in Boston and New York, and alumni presence in investment banking, asset management, private wealth, and corporate finance is a real advantage. For a student focused mainly on landing strong internships early and building toward banking or related roles, BC gives you the better platform.
Location also helps, even though BC is not in downtown Boston. Being tied into the Boston market gives students access to in-semester networking, part-time opportunities, and easier travel for interviews and coffee chats, while New York is still very reachable.
Miami can absolutely place students into finance, and it has useful ties in South Florida, especially in wealth management, real estate, and some emerging finance areas connected to Miami’s growing business scene.
Another difference is peer culture around finance. At BC, there is a more visible concentration of students actively preparing for competitive finance recruiting, which tends to create stronger student clubs, interview prep, and shared alumni connections.
If finance is the main factor, BC is the safer bet for recruiting strength and internship access.
