From a reputation standpoint, University College London is viewed as a major global university with longstanding academic prestige. It is part of the University of London, has a very strong research identity, and tends to be recognized quickly by academics, graduate programs, and international employers. For grad school applications, especially outside the U.S., the UCL name usually carries more immediate weight.

Auburn is a respected public university, but its reputation is more context-dependent. In the U.S., and especially in the Southeast, people know Auburn well and often view it positively.
