UIUC has the stronger computer science prestige. In CS circles, Illinois is one of the names people immediately recognize because its computer science department is unusually large, longstanding, and deeply tied to major areas of the field. Employers in tech know the program well.

One concrete difference is departmental reputation inside computing itself. UIUC is especially well known for core CS areas like systems, architecture, AI, databases, and theory, and that visibility matters when people are judging a school specifically for computer science rather than for overall undergraduate selectivity.
