Indiana University vs. University of Maryland for city life: which campus feels more urban?

For day-to-day city feel, the University of Maryland is the closer match. College Park is in the Washington, DC metro area, and students can realistically spend weekends or even ordinary evenings in DC without much planning. Indiana University has plenty to do in Bloomington, but it feels much more like a classic college town than an urban campus.

Maryland fits students who want their campus tied into a larger regional city. You get restaurants and shops around College Park, but the bigger draw is that DC is part of student life in a very practical way, with internships, museums, neighborhoods, concerts, and public transportation all within reach.
