Fordham offers the stronger city experience, especially if you mean easy, regular access to a major urban environment as part of student life. Its Rose Hill campus is in the Bronx with direct subway and rail access into Manhattan, and Lincoln Center is literally in Manhattan, so New York is not a side trip there, it is part of the setting. University of Miami has plenty nearby, but the day-to-day feel is more suburban campus plus access to Miami rather than fully immersed city living.

A student who wants the city woven into everyday life will usually find Fordham more satisfying. At Rose Hill, you can leave campus and use public transit to reach internships, museums, concerts, restaurants, and different neighborhoods without needing a car, and at Lincoln Center you are already in one of the busiest parts of New York. That makes spontaneous city use much easier.

University of Miami fits someone who wants warm weather, a polished residential campus, and access to a fun metro area without living in the middle of it. Coral Gables is attractive and active, and Miami offers beaches, nightlife, food, and cultural events, but students often experience it as a destination they go out to rather than a city that naturally surrounds them every day. Getting around can also feel more car-dependent depending on where you want to go.

If your priority is a classic campus with city options nearby, Miami can be appealing. If your priority is the strongest overall city experience for a student, especially one centered on public transit and frequent urban exploration, Fordham stands out more clearly.
