Which is better for engineering opportunities: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign or Princeton?

I’m trying to compare these two schools mainly for engineering, especially in terms of research, internships, and recruiting. I know both are strong, but I’m having trouble figuring out which one gives more practical opportunities for an undergraduate engineer.

Princeton can be the more compelling environment for someone who values individualized attention and wants engineering experience shaped through research, advising, and a tighter academic community. The career outcomes can still be excellent, but the path may feel less like stepping into a giant engineering machine and more like crafting a personalized set of opportunities.

So if your question is purely about volume of engineering opportunities and industry recruiting, UIUC has a real advantage. If your priority is top-tier engineering with closer mentorship and unusually strong undergraduate research access, Princeton may be the more appealing choice.
