Is the University of Michigan or UC Santa Cruz better for computer science?
I’m trying to decide between these two schools and computer science is the main thing I care about. I want to understand which one has the stronger CS program overall for undergrad, especially in terms of academics, internship opportunities, and reputation with employers.
I know both are good schools, but I’m having trouble comparing them in a way that matters for a CS major.

The University of Michigan is the stronger choice for undergraduate computer science overall. Its CS program has broader course depth, a larger and more established engineering ecosystem, and a much stronger national reputation with employers across software, robotics, AI, systems, and product-focused roles.
