That reputation is narrower than UCLA’s overall brand, but in computer science it is often the more immediately impressive label.

One concrete difference is how each school is perceived inside the field versus outside it. UCLA has broader household-name recognition and a very strong overall university brand, especially with the public and in industries where school name is read more generally.
