Indiana University Kelley School of Business vs University of South Florida for an undergraduate business degree
I’m trying to decide between Indiana and South Florida for business, and I keep seeing both schools come up in college search results. I want a program that will give me a strong business foundation and help with internships and job recruiting after graduation.
I’m mostly trying to understand how the two schools compare for an undergraduate business major overall.

For an undergraduate business degree, Indiana’s Kelley School is the more established and nationally recognized option, especially if you care a lot about structured recruiting, alumni reach, and a business program that is a major draw of the university. Kelley has a long-standing reputation in undergraduate business, a very large employer network, and strong pipelines into fields like finance, consulting, marketing, accounting, and operations. USF can still be a solid choice, particularly for students who want to build experience in the Tampa Bay market and potentially pay less, but it does not have the same overall business-school brand strength as Kelley.
Kelley tends to fit the student who wants a business-focused campus experience with lots of peers aiming for internships early and competing for well-developed recruiting channels. At Indiana, business is a centerpiece of the undergraduate experience, and that matters because career resources, student organizations, case competitions, workshops, and employer engagement are all built at a larger scale around that identity. If you are the kind of student who wants a program where companies already know the school well and where the alumni network can open doors in multiple regions, Kelley has a real edge.
USF makes more sense for a student who wants a practical, often more budget-conscious path and sees value in being in a growing metro area. Tampa offers access to internships during the school year, and USF can work well for students who are proactive about networking locally in areas like banking, healthcare administration, real estate, supply chain, and general business roles. The opportunity is there, but you may need to drive more of the process yourself rather than step into a business ecosystem with the same national pull.
If your main question is which school gives you the stronger overall undergraduate business platform, I would lean Indiana Kelley. If cost is significantly better at USF or you specifically want to build your career in Florida, then USF becomes much more compelling.
