Is Indiana University or Villanova better for marketing?
I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both Indiana and Villanova are on it because I’m interested in marketing. I know they have different campus vibes and business programs, but I’m not sure which one is generally stronger for someone who wants to study marketing and maybe go into that field after college.

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale versus access. Indiana’s Kelley School of Business gives you a larger, more nationally recognized business ecosystem with more specialized business resources and a very broad alumni network, while Villanova offers a smaller setting where business students may find advising, classes, and faculty interaction a bit more personal. For marketing specifically, both can work well, but they feel very different in how opportunities are delivered.
Indiana has the edge in business depth. Kelley is one of the most established undergraduate business schools in the country, and that matters for marketing because employers already know the program, student organizations are extensive, and there are usually more ways to explore different sides of the field like brand management, sales, analytics, and digital marketing. If you want a campus where business is a major center of gravity, Indiana stands out.
Villanova’s business school is well respected too, and one advantage is its location relative to Philadelphia, with easier access to internships during the school year. That can be especially useful in marketing, where hands-on experience with companies, agencies, or nonprofits can matter a lot. Villanova may also appeal more if you want a smaller, more structured environment and a campus culture that feels less sprawling.
For career outcomes in marketing, I would give Indiana the stronger overall nod because Kelley’s size, reputation, and recruiting infrastructure tend to create more momentum. Villanova is still a very solid option, especially if you value closer faculty access and East Coast internship proximity, but if the question is which school is more powerful specifically for undergraduate marketing, Indiana is the one I’d put first.
