Which is better for internships: University of Miami or Fordham University?

I'm trying to decide between these two schools and keep seeing people say both have good internship opportunities. I know location matters a lot, but I'm not sure how the internship scene actually compares for students at University of Miami versus Fordham University.

I'm mainly looking at how easy it is to find strong internships while in school, especially for business or media-related fields.

For business or media internships during the school year, Fordham usually has the clearer edge because of New York City. Being in NYC makes it much easier to intern part time during the semester, especially in finance, marketing, communications, publishing, and media.

Fordham tends to fit the student who wants internships woven into everyday college life. If you are the kind of student who wants to build a resume early, meet alumni in person, and work at firms or media organizations while taking classes, Fordham’s location is a real advantage. For business students, that matters a lot because networking and repeated exposure to employers can be just as important as coursework. For media-related paths, New York also offers a much denser concentration of outlets, agencies, production companies, and corporate communications teams.

University of Miami works well for a student who wants strong opportunities but in a more campus-centered environment. Miami has real access to internships in areas like hospitality, sports business, entertainment, health-related business, real estate, and some media. The school also has solid connections in South Florida, which can be valuable if you want to stay in that region after graduation. But the internship experience is often more dependent on transportation, planning, and targeting specific industries rather than simply being surrounded by employers in the same way you are at Fordham.

For media specifically, Fordham is hard to ignore because New York offers both volume and variety. For business, Fordham still has the stronger semester-time setup, while Miami can be especially appealing if your interests lean toward international business tied to Latin America, hospitality, sports, or South Florida industries.

So if your biggest priority is maximizing access to frequent, in-semester internships in business or media, Fordham has the stronger setup. Miami can still deliver good internships, but Fordham makes the process more immediate and practical while you are in school.
