Is Miami or Fordham better for marketing students?

I’m trying to decide between the University of Miami and Fordham, and marketing is the major I’m most interested in. I want a school that has a strong business program and enough opportunities to learn practical marketing skills.

I’m mainly trying to figure out which one has the better overall setup for someone who wants to study marketing.

For a student focused on marketing, Miami often has the more direct overall setup because the Miami Herbert Business School is a well-known, fully developed business environment. The University of Miami also benefits from its location in a major consumer market, which can translate into internships, branding projects, and exposure to companies that care a lot about digital outreach and multicultural marketing.

Miami makes sense for someone who wants a classic business-school experience with a lot of energy around business as a whole, not just marketing in isolation. If you like the idea of studying marketing alongside classmates going into finance, entrepreneurship, and management, and you want access to hands-on work connected to South Florida industries, Miami is appealing. Its setting also helps if you are interested in bilingual or global-facing marketing, since the city has a strong international and Latin American business presence.

Fordham is especially attractive for the student who wants marketing in a major-city, professionally networked environment where internships can be part of the rhythm of the school year. The Gabelli School of Business has a strong reputation, and Fordham’s New York location gives marketing students access to advertising, media, fashion, publishing, consulting, and brand-side opportunities that are hard to match. That can matter a lot if your version of marketing leans toward agency work, communications, luxury brands, or media strategy.

Fordham also suits the student who wants to build practical experience early and often, because being in New York can make part-time internships during the semester more realistic. If you are highly self-directed, comfortable navigating a city, and excited by the possibility of using the city itself as part of your education, Fordham can be a very smart place to study marketing.

Between the two, Miami stands out a bit more for a broad, polished undergraduate business-school experience, while Fordham stands out for students who want to plug directly into New York’s marketing ecosystem.
