Knoxville is a much larger campus in a real city, so there are more people around, more off-campus places students actually use, and more ways for social life to happen outside of organized school events. Clemson is very spirited and friendly too, but its smaller college-town setting usually makes the social scene feel tighter and more contained.

Tennessee has the energy of a large SEC campus woven into downtown Knoxville, which means meeting people can happen through campus events, apartment life, restaurants, concerts, and student orgs all in the same orbit. Clemson is more self-contained, so student life revolves more heavily around campus itself and a narrower local scene.

Tennessee offers a huge student body and a very broad mix of clubs, identities, and subcommunities, which can make it easier to keep finding new circles.
