Cornell is generally harder to get into overall. It draws a much larger applicant pool, has broader name recognition nationally and internationally, and its most in-demand colleges and majors can be especially selective. Middlebury is also highly selective, but in overall admissions conversations, Cornell is usually viewed as the tougher admit.

That said, the comparison is not perfectly simple because Cornell admits by college, and selectivity can vary a lot depending on where you apply.
