Is Baylor or Boston College better for finance careers?

I'm a high school senior trying to decide between Baylor and Boston College, and I want to study something that could lead to a finance career. Both schools seem solid, but I keep seeing different opinions about which one has the stronger reputation for getting students into finance.

I am mainly trying to understand which school would generally give better access to finance recruiting and alumni connections for a future career in finance.

For finance specifically, Boston College usually offers the stronger platform. Its Carroll School of Management has a very established reputation in business, the school sits near a major financial hub in Boston, and its alumni network is especially visible in finance, consulting, and related East Coast recruiting. If your main goal is maximizing access to finance internships and employer pipelines, BC tends to have the edge.

Boston College makes the most sense for a student who wants a more direct path into traditional finance recruiting. Being in the Northeast matters: you are closer to banks, asset management firms, and internship opportunities during the school year, not just in the summer. BC also benefits from a large, loyal alumni base that is known for helping students break into competitive fields, and that kind of network can matter a lot in finance.

Baylor can still work well for finance, especially for a student who wants a strong campus community, a more residential college experience, and access to business opportunities in Texas. Its business school is respected, and Baylor graduates do place into finance roles, particularly in regional markets and through Texas-based connections. For someone interested in building a career in Dallas, Houston, or other parts of the South, Baylor may feel more naturally connected.

The key difference is less about whether either school can lead to finance, and more about the depth and visibility of the recruiting ecosystem. Boston College is more likely to give you broader name recognition in finance circles and more built-in momentum for internships, networking, and alumni outreach. Baylor is a solid choice, but for pure finance access and connections, Boston College is typically the stronger option.
