Which school has stronger research prestige: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or Duke?

If you mean pure across-the-board prestige, Duke has the edge. If you mean research standing in technical fields like engineering or CS, UIUC is every bit in that conversation and can be the more impressive name depending on the audience.
