Is Lehigh or Georgia Tech worth the cost for engineering?

The biggest practical tradeoff is cost versus engineering depth. Georgia Tech has a broader and more engineering-centered ecosystem, with more name recognition specifically in engineering, larger research activity, and stronger recruiting volume from major technical employers. Lehigh is also well respected, but it usually makes the most financial sense only if the price is close enough that the smaller-school experience is something you actively want.

For engineering value, Georgia Tech is hard to beat when costs are similar or when Tech is cheaper. It is one of the schools employers consistently know for engineering, and that matters for internships, peer networks, research access, and the overall seriousness of the engineering environment. You would be surrounded by a much larger concentration of engineering students, labs, student design teams, and technical recruiting opportunities.

Lehigh’s case is different. Its engineering is legitimate and its smaller size can mean more personal attention, easier professor access, and a campus culture that feels less intense and more traditional than Georgia Tech’s. For some students, that environment leads to better outcomes because they thrive more there. But in a pure return-on-investment comparison for engineering, Lehigh usually does not justify being much more expensive than Georgia Tech.

A useful way to think about it is this: if Georgia Tech is cheaper or even roughly the same cost, it is probably the smarter choice for engineering. If Lehigh gave you enough aid that the prices are very close, then the decision can come down to learning environment, campus vibe, and where you think you will perform best. If Lehigh is significantly more expensive, I would have a hard time calling that extra cost worth it for engineering over Georgia Tech.
