What is the campus culture difference between Villanova and Ohio State?

Ohio State feels much bigger, louder, and more high-energy day to day, while Villanova is more close-knit, polished, and community-oriented. At Ohio State, the scale shapes everything: a huge student body, major Big Ten sports culture, and a campus where there is always something happening. Villanova has strong school pride too, especially around basketball, but its smaller size and Augustinian Catholic identity create a more personal and contained atmosphere.

Social life is one of the clearest differences. Ohio State offers an enormous range of scenes, from Greek life and large parties to hundreds of clubs, residence hall communities, and events spread across a very large campus in Columbus. Villanova’s social life is more compact and relationship-based, with students often describing it as easier to recognize people, build tighter circles, and feel part of a consistent campus community. Because it is smaller and more residential in feel, the social environment can seem more intimate, though sometimes less varied.
