UIUC has the edge for overall student experience for most undergrads, mainly because student life there feels bigger, more immersive, and easier to plug into quickly. It has a true college-town environment in Champaign-Urbana, a very active campus community, and a social scene that extends well beyond just weekends. Students who want a classic residential campus with lots happening every day often find UIUC more energizing.

UIUC is large, but that size translates into a huge number of student organizations, events, traditions, and communities, so it is usually easier to find a niche whether you are into cultural groups, engineering clubs, performance, politics, or casual social activities.
