Auburn vs UGA for finance careers: which is better for recruiting and internships?
I’m trying to decide between Auburn and UGA and I want to study finance. My main goal is to get a good internship and eventually a full-time job in finance after college.
Both schools seem strong overall, but I’m not sure which one has the better reputation or recruiting pipeline for finance careers.

UGA has the clearer edge for finance recruiting and internships. Its Terry College of Business is especially well known in the Southeast, Atlanta is a major advantage for access to banks, corporate finance roles, and asset management firms, and the school has a deeper on-campus recruiting presence for finance than Auburn.
Location matters a lot here. Athens is close enough to Atlanta that UGA students benefit from one of the South’s biggest business hubs, where many finance internships and entry-level jobs are concentrated. That proximity tends to help with alumni networking, employer events, and semester-time access to firms in a way Auburn cannot match as easily.
The second differentiator is the business school itself. Terry has a strong reputation with employers, and for finance specifically it is often the more recognized name in regional recruiting. UGA also has established finance-focused programs, student organizations, and pipelines that feed into corporate finance, commercial banking, real estate, and some investment-oriented paths.
Auburn can still absolutely place students into solid finance outcomes, especially in corporate roles and with employers across Alabama and parts of the Southeast. It has a loyal alumni base and a respected business school, so motivated students can do very well there. But if your main decision factor is which school gives you the broader and more active finance recruiting ecosystem right out of college, UGA is the safer bet.
