Purdue vs Vanderbilt: which has better student life?

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale and atmosphere: Purdue feels like a large, high-energy public university where student life is shaped by school spirit, major-driven communities, and sheer campus activity, while Vanderbilt feels more residential, more curated, and more socially centralized because of its smaller size and campus culture. Day to day, Vanderbilt often comes across as more intimate and polished, and Purdue often feels busier, broader, and more build-your-own-experience. Students at both schools can have a strong social life, but the texture of that life is pretty different.

At Purdue, student life benefits from a huge campus community, Big Ten energy, lots of clubs, and a strong sense of pride around traditions and athletics.
