Which is better for finance careers: University of Minnesota or University of San Francisco?

University of Minnesota is the stronger option for finance careers. For most students targeting finance jobs right after college, Minnesota gives you a broader and more reliable platform.

One clear differentiator is the business school itself. Carlson is a nationally recognized undergraduate business program, and that matters because finance recruiting is often very school- and employer-specific.

The alumni network is another major gap. Minnesota has a much bigger presence across the Midwest and in large national companies, especially in Minneapolis-St. Paul. USF benefits from being in San Francisco, but location alone does not automatically translate into stronger undergraduate finance recruiting.

At USF, opportunities exist, especially for students who hustle and network aggressively in the Bay Area, but the path is less naturally built out.
