University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or Ohio State: which school has stronger school pride?

Ohio State is more widely known for intense, highly visible school pride. On that campus, Buckeye identity is a daily thing, not just a game-day thing: football culture is huge, traditions like Script Ohio are nationally recognizable, and scarlet-and-gray branding is everywhere. If what you mean by school pride is students packing events, wearing school gear constantly, and treating the university as a major shared identity, Ohio State has the stronger reputation.

That said, UIUC absolutely has pride too, just in a somewhat different style. Illinois students show up for Big Ten sports, campus traditions, and major events, but the energy is usually less all-consuming than at Ohio State. At UIUC, the culture often feels more balanced between academics, student organizations, and sports rather than being anchored as heavily by athletics.

Ohio State tends to fit the student who wants a big, outwardly spirited environment where school identity is hard to miss. UIUC fits someone who still wants Big Ten energy but does not need school spirit to dominate the culture. You will still find loyal students, active traditions, and plenty of orange and blue, but the vibe is usually a little less intense and less nationally branded around athletics. For pure, obvious, everyday school pride, Ohio State has the edge.
