Temple will feel much more urban in your daily life. Its main campus is in North Philadelphia, embedded in the city grid, so city streets, rowhouses, public transit, corner stores, and Philadelphia activity are part of the everyday environment. Villanova, by contrast, is on the Main Line in a suburban setting, and while Center City is accessible by train, the campus itself does not feel like living in the city.

For a student who wants the city to be the backdrop of ordinary college life, Temple fits that experience more clearly. You can step off campus and still feel like you are in Philadelphia, and SEPTA access makes getting around the city very practical. The urban energy is not something you visit occasionally; it is built into the routine of going to class, grabbing food, or exploring nearby neighborhoods.

Villanova makes more sense for someone who wants a traditional residential campus first and the city as an option second. You can absolutely go into Philadelphia from Villanova, especially on the regional rail, but it tends to feel like a trip into the city rather than living inside it.
