Is Case Western or Indiana University better for finance careers?
I’m trying to decide between Case Western and Indiana, and I’m interested in finance after college. Both seem like good schools overall, but I’m not sure which one has the stronger path into finance jobs and recruiting.
I’m mostly trying to understand which school tends to give students a better shot at finance careers and why.

Indiana University is the stronger option for finance careers, mainly because Kelley has a much more established pipeline into finance recruiting and a larger alumni presence in the field. For an undergraduate aiming at investment banking, corporate finance, asset management, or similar paths, Kelley is more directly built for that outcome. Indiana also benefits from the scale of its business school and employer familiarity with its undergrad talent.
The biggest differentiator is the business school itself. Kelley is one of the most recognized undergraduate business schools in the country, and that matters in finance because recruiting is structured, relationship-driven, and often school-specific. Indiana students have access to a deeper finance ecosystem on campus, including more classmates targeting finance, more specialized clubs and prep pipelines, and recruiting processes that are set up with finance employers in mind.
The second difference is employer access and alumni reach. Indiana has a very large alumni network in business and finance, which tends to translate into more informational interviews, mentorship, and alumni-supported recruiting. In finance, that network effect is especially valuable because internships and first jobs often come through repeated school pipelines rather than just raw academic strength.
Case Western is a strong university, but it is better known for engineering, science, and pre-med than for feeding large numbers of undergrads into finance. You can absolutely reach finance from Case, especially if you perform well and build experience early, but the path is less naturally built around that goal. For finance specifically, Indiana gives you a clearer runway and more built-in opportunities.
