Georgia or Washington for computer science: which is better overall?

Washington has the stronger overall reputation specifically for undergraduate computer science. Its Paul G. Allen School is one of the most nationally recognized CS programs, and being in Seattle gives students unusually direct access to major tech companies, research labs, and internships during the school year.

One major differentiator is depth and visibility within computer science itself. Washington is especially well known for areas like artificial intelligence, systems, human-computer interaction, graphics, and data science, and the Allen School has a very prominent research profile. That matters even for undergrads because it tends to translate into stronger course offerings, more specialized opportunities, and a department name employers already know.

Another difference is location. Seattle is one of the biggest tech hubs in the country, and Washington students benefit from that in a practical way, not just in prestige terms. During the academic year, it is easier to find nearby internships, part-time technical work, networking events, and alumni connections tied to companies with a large presence in the area.

Georgia is still an excellent university with a respected computing reputation, especially if you mean the University of Georgia broadly as a flagship public school. But for computer science, it is not usually mentioned in the same tier of national reputation as Washington. If your question is strictly which school is more highly regarded for undergrad CS overall, Washington is the clearer answer.
