How does social life compare at NC State vs Ohio State for undergrads?

Ohio State tends to have the bigger, louder, more constant social scene for undergrads. Its campus sits right next to a major city neighborhood, football culture is enormous, and the scale of student life means there is almost always something happening on or around campus. NC State is social too, but the vibe is usually a bit more balanced and less all-consuming.

One big difference is the surrounding environment. Ohio State is woven into Columbus, especially the areas right around campus, so students have easy access to bars, restaurants, concerts, apartments, and off-campus hangouts that make weekends feel very active. NC State is in Raleigh, which is also a strong city, but its student social life often feels a little more spread out because the campus is less centered around one dominant college neighborhood.
