That usually means more flexibility if your interests change and more depth if you want to pursue a particular subfield seriously.

The recruiting landscape is also very different. UCLA benefits from its location in Los Angeles, its scale, and its visibility with major tech employers, which tends to translate into stronger internship pipelines and a larger alumni network in software and tech-adjacent industries.

Research and peer environment matter too. At UCLA, you are more likely to be surrounded by a larger concentration of students focused intensely on computing, startups, engineering clubs, hackathons, and technical project work. That kind of environment can make a real difference in motivation, collaboration, and résumé-building.

Baylor’s advantages are more about campus feel than CS strength. It may offer a smaller, more personal setting and potentially closer professor interaction, which some students value a lot. But if the question is which school is more highly regarded and better resourced for computer science itself, UCLA has the clear edge.
