Arizona State or Indiana University for business analytics: which is the better choice?
I’m trying to decide between Arizona State and Indiana University for business analytics, and I’m mostly focused on which one is the stronger option for that major. I want to make a choice based on how well the program is known and how useful it would be for getting internships and a first job after college.
I’m not looking at cost or location as the main factor right now, just which school is generally the better pick for business analytics.

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Indiana University gives you the advantage of a very established, nationally recognized undergraduate business school through Kelley, while Arizona State offers a large, well-resourced business environment with strong industry connections and a more applied, scalable approach. For business analytics specifically, Kelley tends to carry more brand strength with employers in business recruiting, and that matters for internships and first-job placement. ASU can still open plenty of doors, but IU usually has the clearer edge if you are choosing mainly on reputation and recruiting value.
Indiana’s Kelley School of Business is especially well known among employers who recruit for consulting, finance, marketing analytics, operations, and broader business roles that increasingly use analytics. That helps because business analytics majors often compete not just for analytics titles, but also for rotational programs, strategy roles, and data-informed business jobs where the Kelley name is a real asset. The alumni network is also a meaningful advantage, particularly for corporate recruiting.
Arizona State’s W. P. Carey School of Business is respected and has strong connections in a major metro area, which can be very useful for internships and hands-on experience. ASU is often attractive for students who want access to a large university ecosystem, lots of employer engagement, and flexibility across business and tech-oriented areas. For analytics, that practical exposure can be valuable, especially if you are proactive about internships, projects, and networking.
If the question is which school is the stronger pick for business analytics in terms of program reputation and likely boost for internships and an early-career job search, Indiana University has the edge. ASU is a solid option, but Kelley is more likely to give you a stronger signal in the market and a more powerful recruiting platform for business-focused analytics careers.
