That kind of proximity can make a real difference over four years.

One big differentiator is research access. At Maryland, students can tap into a major research university ecosystem with strong biology, neuroscience, chemistry, and public health-related work, plus connections beyond campus to federal labs and medical centers in the region. Indiana also has solid undergraduate research, but Maryland’s geographic position gives it a broader external network that is especially useful for pre med students building a resume before applying to med school.

Clinical exposure is another meaningful advantage.
